Our latest farmer-focused application, “Ubia Soko” supports farmers and their families by offering them a range of services including access to commodity markets, finance, inputs and health insurance.

Case study

AGRIinsight is currently working in the Tanzania rice subsector. We first analysed the value chain for a rice trader in 2018 and then set about identifying and engaging with supply chain partners.
We have also set up farmer profiles on Ubia Soko, registering over 10,000 farmers to help them unlock a networked marketplace that focuses on the main challenges they face.
Ubia Soko has also provided farmers with access to bank accounts that allow them to save and pay for relevant services. For banks and insurers, Ubia Soko is a platform to connect with hard-to-reach families, who otherwise might not use their services.
In early 2020 AGRIinsight announced major commercial partnerships with Tanzanian and Kenya based rice wholesalers and distributors thereby completing the digitisation of the rice supply chain.  The company can now offer a full digital farm to fork service that allows smallholders to connect directly with large urban markets.
